Disney Cruise Packing List: 10 Must-Have Disney Cruise Items

Disney Stateroom Door Magnets + Fish Extender

Bring your stateroom to life by decorating your door with themed magnets—it’s a fun tradition that makes finding your room easier and sparks instant Disney joy every time you walk by. If you’re participating in a fish extender gift exchange (look it up—so fun!), hang one outside your door and prep some surprises to share. It’s like a mini gift-giving party at sea.

I love a fun mix of personalized and other Disney character magnets. Below is a photo of our last Disney Cruise stateroom door on the Disney Treasure – we got two sets of magnets for this and love the way they look. I completely forgot to pack my personalized Mulan magnet from a previous cruise but I still had a fun time with how our door looked with these magnets and fish extender.

Cute Disney Themed Sun Hat for Port Days + Poolside

Whether you’re poolside or going on an excursion, sun protection is key and a cute sun hat adds style and shade. Having a hat is also helpful to make your travels more comfortable, especially if you’re cruising during warmer and sunnier months. I found a cute Minnie Mouse hat from the Disney x Aldi collection and it came in handy when we explored Castaway Cay and did the 5K!

Pirate Night Outfit Ideas + Accessories

Pirate Night is legendary on Disney cruises. Dressing up—whether it’s just a playful bandana (Disney provides one, your stateroom host will leave them in your room the morning of) and a fun pirate themed t-shirt, or the whole pirate ensemble—really adds to the fun. We ordered these matching pirate themed shirts this year and they were a hit, we got so many compliments — totally worth packing!

SPF Essentials for a Disney Cruise (My 3 Go-To Types!)

Don’t let the sea breeze fool you, the sun is strong at sea. Call me extra but I packed three types of sunscreen with me – lotion, stick, and spray. I used a sunscreen lotion each morning, spf spray (doubles as a makeup setting spray!) to refresh sunscreen on my face throughout the day without messing up my makeup, and kept a sunscreen stick (I use this one and it’s under $15!) in my day bag with me so I could easily reapply sunscreen on my body poolside.

Magnetic Hooks to Maximize Your Stateroom Space

Magnetic hooks are game-changers for storage. Hang hats, swimsuits, or keep lanyards handy without cluttering up your limited space. Seriously, a few sturdy hooks can make your cozy room feel so much more organized. I bought this pack of magnetic hooks for our last Disney Cruise and they were super helpful.

Reusable Water Bottle to Stay Hydrated Onboard

Staying hydrated is a must, especially with all the sun and activity. Disney Cruise ships have multiple water refill stations (or refill with your choice of soda!) around the ship and the cafes will also refill your water bottles. Bringing your own water bottle saves money, reduces waste, and ensures you always have water on hand.

Disney Cruise Lanyard for Your Key to the World Card

When you’re on a Disney Cruise, you’ll be reaching for your Key to the World card often, whether that’s to access your room, to get off and on the ship, make food or shopping purchases, etc. so having a fun lanyard keeps it conveniently accessible while doubling as a cute accessory. Look for ones with ID badge holders like this.

PS: I’m not sure how often gifts change once you become a Castaway Club member but once you become silver status you’ll start receiving a gift each time you cruise with Disney. Disney gifted the lanyard with a card holder pictured above so I ended up using that but did bring a backup option.

Matching or Personalized Disney Shirts (Photo-Ready!)

I don’t know about you but I love matching with my friends and family. My mom and I purchased matching shirts for Disney Parks on a mother-daughter vacation one year (the exact one isn’t sold anymore but it was similar to this design) and my best friends and I purchased these matching Disney shirts for when we visited Disneyland Paris! There are so many fun Disney Cruise themed shirts you can personalize with friends and family. And don’t forget pirate night! You can get personalized ones or if you’re in a pinch like I was this last cruise sailing, we purchased these pirate themed shirts off Amazon and they were a hit! We got them in blue and got several compliments when we wore them.

Matching or personalized shirts make for memorable photos and help you spot your group in a crowd. If you’re wanting something different than shirts, matching or personalized belt bags, totes, or water bottles are also a great option!

Chic Belt Bag or Day Bag for Excursions + Ship Days

A lightweight, hands-free bag is my secret to a stress-free cruise. Whether running to character meet-ups or heading ashore, it fits all the essentials – phone, power bank, sunscreen, lip balm, etc. without weighing me down. Look for one that fits your comfort level and bonus points if it matches your cruise vibe. If you’re into DIY, you can purchase belt bags and fun Disney patches and make a personalized one! I wish I had time for this before our Disney Cruise sailing but I plan to do this for another trip. If you like the personalized vibe but don’t have time to DIY, there are a bunch of Etsy sellers that create fun personalized Disney bags, linking a few options below!

Functional Makeup + Toiletry Bag for Small Spaces

With limited bathroom space in the staterooms, organization is everything. I keep space saving in mind when it comes to my beauty products (you might like my other post, How to Pack your Travel Makeup Bag Like a Pro + free checklist!) A good toiletry bag makes things easier, I used a hanging bag that has multiple clear zip pockets – made it so easy to grab what I needed and reduce clutter. I used a smaller pouch to store hair accessories and other small things.

Final Thoughts

Each of these items make my Disney Cruise experience more comfortable and magical. I hope these favorites help you feel prepared and able to focus on the real magic: making wonderful memories at sea.

Have a go-to item that always sails with you, or a tip I missed? I’d love to hear about it in the comments! Your ideas just might help another traveler find a little extra ease on their own voyage.
