I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
Happy Foundation Friday! Today, I’ll be sharing my thoughts on a foundation I have not been able to put down - the Wet N Wild Photo Focus Foundation. I am so hooked onto it because of how it looks and feels on my skin as well as the price point! I don’t want to spoil too many things but I will say this is one of my favorite drugstore foundations.
Wet N Wild’s Photo Focus Foundation is a one I’ve been using consistently for quite some time, a little over a year now. In fact, I just purchased my 2nd bottle of it a few days ago!
I am VERY picky when it comes to foundation, mainly because I have sensitive skin and it changes by season. Foundations I use during the Spring and Summer will not always be ones I prefer during Fall and Winter.
This foundation can be found in almost all drug stores, Walmart and online through Wet N Wild and . The price is under $10 for 1 fluid ounce depending on where you purchase it.
There are 20 shades to choose from. I haven’t seen all 20 in store before but if you look at them , you can get an idea of the range. I have medium skin with a warm/golden undertone and the shades that match me are Honey Beige during colder months and Desert Beige during warmer months. Golden Beige is the 9th shade in and Desert Beige is the 13th shade in. I personally have never seen all the ones in between when I went to purchase them - usually through Walgreens or Walmart. I may get a couple of them just to see how they compare to the two shades I already have.
Photo Focus Foundation claims to be a “your skin but better”. Their website states it’s meant to deliver flawless camera ready makeup and is made with a matte, light-diffusing complex to give your skin a no filter perfection. Other claims it has is that it has a light adjusting complex to help prevent white cast in photos and was tested under 7 light conditions: clear blue sunlight sky, outdoors PM, indoors PM, electronic flash, fluorescent light, bathroom light, and nightclub light.
The foundation comes in a glass bottle with a plastic wand/spatula type of applicator as seen in the photo below. I do prefer pumps rather than wands for foundations but this applicator isn’t the worst.
Considering I’ve been using this for over a year now, you probably guessed I really enjoy this foundation..and I do! It’s lightweight and really does feel and like a “your skin but better” type of finish. It’s more of a light to medium coverage foundation but can be built to a medium coverage. There’s something about drugstore foundations that tend to break me out which is why I rarely used them until a couple years ago. This one doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin at all. If you do have oily skin, I recommend using a good powder on top. Like I mentioned, do have combo skin with an oily T-Zone but this didn’t give me any more shine than what I expected.
I prefer to apply this with my Eco Tools Sponge or my Real Techniques Expert Face Brush. They both give me a beautiful finish.
Photo Focus applies really smooth and evenly. It doesn’t have any patchiness to it and does what I expect a light to medium coverage foundation to do. This is the foundation I often reach for when I go to work and usually wear it from 8AM until I decide to wash my face - usually before bed. I notice it stays put for about 6-7 hours before it starts to fade.
I enjoy this for my combination skin, it’s one of my favorites from the drugstore and probably a favorite of all time. It’s comfortable, evens out my skin, hides most of my flaws and is so budget friendly! I definitely recommend it if you’re like me who does prefer a “your skin but better” type of finish and are looking for something incredibly affordable. You can check it out here!
