Too Faced White Chocolate Chip Palette: First Impressions

Too Faced launched two palettes in time for the holidays recently - their Matte Chocolate Chip Palette and White Chocolate Chip Palette. I picked up the latter when it was available to VIB Rouge members on the Sephora site. I thought I'd do a quick first impressions and show some swatches before they restocked their website since I've seen many people show interest in wanting to get their hands on this palette!

This palette is available on Sephora's website for $26 and comes with 11 cocoa powder infused pastel, creamy nudes, and a pop of black shades. It's currently sold out but they should be restocking soon.

The first thing I noticed about this palette is that it's small and sleek.

Like REALLY small. It's smaller than my mom's iphone 5.

And the pan sizes are insanely small. The big pan holds 1.5 grams of product while the 10 smaller pans have 0.5 grams each making the total amount of product in this palette 6.5 grams. This is about a third of the amount included in the original Chocolate Bar which has 18.9 grams of product for $49.

Simply comparing the amount of product in each palette doesn't make the White Chocolate Chip Palette worth it to me. You get less than half the amount of product while the cost is more than half of what the original Chocolate Bar. At first I tried to justify the small pan sizes with the fact that I hardly ever go hit pan on my shadows but my view changed once I swatched these shadows. I used very little product in my swatches and feel like I already used up a ton of product. Hopefully that isn't the case but seeing the dents I made with one use doesn't keep my hopes up.

Shades top to bottom: Glaze, Ambriosa, Exotica, Pearl Candy, Raspberry Rose, Indulge, Guilt Free, Cake Batter, Cookie Dough, Sugared Raisin, Black Sugar

I do like the color range of the shadows, however, I feel like there are more nudes than pastels. Before I played around with the shadows, I expected the shimmers to outperform the mattes but it was the opposite. I had to layer up the shimmer shades to build up the swatches. Most of the mattes are good in my opinion, but not impressive. They're extremely powdery and a few had to be built up.

Final Thoughts

Pros: Cute packaging, the cocoa scent is great, and color range is something I'd use

Cons: Amount of product provided, formula isn't as great as I hoped it to be, especially the shimmery shades.

If you're a beauty enthusiast who wants this in your collection, then I'd say why not - but don't have your hopes up. If you're someone who's on the market for a new palette, I'd say skip this and splurge on a Lorac Palette, especially if their holiday ones are still available ($18 only!) or even an Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette

If you're willing to try something new, I'd say go with an indie brand such as Touch of Glam BeautyDevinah Cosmetics, or JD Glow Cosmetics!

What are your thoughts on the White Chocolate Chip Palette? Will you be purchasing it if you have not already?

I have it I used it today and while it is small and sleek and the pans are small I am enjoying it. I'm not really sure if I like it or not but it's so darn cute! Anyway I wanna use it a bit more before I judge it.
