Self Care Ideas – Weekly Self Care Update 5/52
Welcome to this weekโs self care check in! Can you believe itโs the last Sunday of January – where did the time go? It was a cozy week with all the rain, snow, and cold weather. A lot of my self care this incorporated cozy vibes. Letโs take a look at the self care activities I integrated into my day to day week! The purpose of these weekly check ins – besides an accountability method for me – is to share different methods of self care that are guilt free. I also like to share how some day to day activities can be used as ways to self care.

Like I shared in my first self care check in, I spent a lot of my time being a people pleaser and didnโt really understand the concept of self care and why itโs essential. Ever since I realized and accepted that putting myself first isnโt a bad thing, I prioritize self care and look for guilt free self care ideas to incorporate in day to day life. This year, Iโm taking self care to the next level by incorporating at least one self care activity each and every day. Iโm journaling them all and sharing a weekly recap of my self care journey here on the blog to share guilt free self care ideas that can be added into your day to day routine.
What is self care?
Self care is recognizing and being mindful of you and your well being. It means taking actions to maintain a healthy life in regards to our emotional health, mental health, and physical health. Practicing self care can help us navigate through anxiety and stress and helps us put our best foot forward in life. You can read more about my self care journey here!
Week 5 of 52 – Self Care Check In
Most of my self care activities are nothing extravagant. Instead, many of them are simple things I do at home and activities I incorporate into my daily routine. Some of these self care activities may take five minutes, others longer. Some might actually be an activity while others are goals and habits such as not logging into social media for a certain portion of the day. I have a list of ways to practice self care here!

Monday was short and simple with a self care sheet masking session. I went in with my Wander Beauty Baggage Claim Eye Gels with a sheet mask from Innis Free, specifically the Aloe one.

One of my goals is to have a proper morning routine and today was one of those rare days where I actually had one. Mornings are not my cup of tea so I find it a challenge to be consistent with my morning routine. I find having a proper morning routine can be great for self care, at least it is for me! My morning routine included making a cup of green tea, meditating, and being super mindful and present.

I finished organizing my skincare collection on Wednesday evening – completely satisfied with how it turned out. I purged things that were expired or soon to be expired, created bins for donating new products + giving them to friends, family, and for giveaways.

Thursday was my journaling day. I took time in the evening to do gratitude and affirmation journaling. This helps keep me focused, grounded, and helps keep my energy positive.

Friday was the most stressful day of this week and I needed a self care activity that helped me remove some mental pressure. I chose to practice some deep breathing exercises during one of my work breaks and in the evening. This didnโt take a bulk of my time but was very effective.

Saturday was workout day for me. Exercising makes me feel so much better, both physically and mentally. I donโt do anything crazy with workouts. I typically will search workout videos on the areas I want to target the specific day. Instagram and Youtube are great places to search for videos!

Today I chose to not work a full day and instead, take time to rest my mind and body. I feel this is important and a self care activity in itself. Yes, there are a million things to do but focusing on rest gives us the ability to come through stronger in the future and also helps avoid burnout.
That’s this week’s self care check in! What are some self care activities you’ve done recently? Let me know in the comments!
