Happy Sunday! I feel like I’m still playing catch up after all the holiday weekends and that caused a bit of a damper on my self care plans. It’s been a major go go go type of week but I was still intentional in making self care a priority. Let’s take a look at the self care activities I integrated into my day to day week! The purpose of these weekly check ins - besides an accountability method for me - is to share different methods of self care that are guilt free. I also like to share how some day to day activities can be used as ways to self care.
Like I shared in my first self care check in, I spent a lot of my time being a people pleaser and didn’t really understand the concept of self care and why it’s essential. Ever since I realized and accepted that putting myself first isn’t a bad thing, I prioritize self care and look for guilt free self care ideas to incorporate in day to day life. This year, I’m taking self care to the next level by incorporating at least one self care activity each and every day. I’m journaling them all and sharing a weekly recap of my self care journey here on the blog to share guilt free self care ideas that can be added into your day to day routine.
Self care is recognizing and being mindful of you and your well being. It means taking actions to maintain a healthy life in regards to our emotional health, mental health, and physical health. Practicing self care can help us navigate through anxiety and stress and helps us put our best foot forward in life. You can read more about my self care journey here!
Most of my self care activities are nothing extravagant. Instead, many of them are simple things I do at home and activities I incorporate into my daily routine. Some of these self care activities may take five minutes, others longer. Some might actually be an activity while others are goals and habits such as not logging into social media for a certain portion of the day. I have a list of ways to practice self care here!
Monday was a holiday so I spent most of the day pretty much resting - resting my mind is huge for my self care routine. Rest is important and helps not reach a stage of burnout. I have a full time job and work on all my blog things in the evenings and weekends and I don’t take that “normal” break I used to when all I did was work a full time job.
Tuesday was the start of my work week and I spent the morning journaling. Journaling is a self care activity I love and enjoy because it allows my mind to rest and gives me a chance to clear my mind of anything that may be bothering me.
Wednesday’s self care was similar to Tuesday’s in the sense that I focused on journaling. My journaling focus for today was gratitude and I love using my 5 Minute Journal to practice gratitude. It doesn’t take much time and really keeps you on track with the guided prompts.
Not sure what’s up with Thursday’s but similar to last Thursday, I didn’t really get in a self care activity and that’s okay! It happens. My day was longer than the rest since I had last minute appointments through the evening and spent the rest of the night working.
Friday was movie night - we rewatched another oldie but goodie - The Parent Trap. Movie night is another favorite self care activity of mine - it allows me to focus my energy and mind on something enjoyable.
Saturday was a full on lazy day mode. Well..at least the latter part was! After spending a chunk of the day working, I got some major rest and self care with a nap and then a Netflix binge watch. We’re rewatching Selling Sunset!
Today’s been a busy Sunday - lots of little things to get done took a ton of my time but I did get some self care in through a major mask session. I went all in with a wash off mask, sheet mask, and eye gels! I linked some of my favorite masks here.
That's this week's self care check in! What are some self care activities you've done recently? Let me know in the comments!
