It’s Sunday funday fam! Hope you’re doing well and happy to see you here! Can you believe half of January is already over?! I don’t know about you but this week was a bit stressful - the to-do list is piling up and it seems like there isn’t enough hours in the day + energy in myself to get everything done. Nevertheless, I was intentional in finding moments of happiness and peace in each and every day with these self care ideas, which I can see already is shifting my mindset and my overall life and how I handle stressful situations. Let’s dive into this week’s self care check in!
Self care works in different ways for everyone. What my self care routine looks like may be totally different for you! The purpose of these weekly check ins - besides an accountability method for me - is to share different methods of self care that are guilt free. I also like to share how some day to day activities can be used as ways to self care.
Like I shared in my first self care check in, I spent a lot of my time being a people pleaser and didn’t really understand the concept of self care and why it’s essential. Ever since I realized and accepted that putting myself first isn’t a bad thing, I prioritize self care and look for guilt free self care ideas to incorporate in day to day life. This year, I’m taking self care to the next level by incorporating at least one self care activity each and every day. I’m journaling them all and sharing a weekly recap of my self care journey here on the blog to share guilt free self care ideas that can be added into your day to day routine.
Self care is recognizing and being mindful of you and your well being. It means taking actions to maintain a healthy life in regards to our emotional health, mental health, and physical health. Practicing self care can help us navigate through anxiety and stress and helps us put our best foot forward in life. You can read more about my self care journey here!
Most of my self care activities are nothing extravagant. Instead, many of them are simple things I do at home and activities I incorporate into my daily routine. Some of these self care activities may take five minutes, others longer. Some might actually be an activity while others are goals and habits such as not logging into social media for a certain portion of the day. I have a list of ways to practice self care here!
Ooof, Monday! One of my goals is to be more consistent with weekly journaling so that’s what I started off with on Monday! I spent time listening and saying out loud my affirmations and used a few guided journal prompts, like the anxiety and stress relieving journal prompts I have here!
Tuesday was a similar self care type of day like Monday where I spent some time journaling - it really helps clear my mind and allows for me to focus my energy on things that need to be done!
Wednesday was a fun self care kind of day - I had the opportunity to attend a virtual launch event for Schwarzkopf Color in the evening and part of the event was a Paint and Sip class led by Paint N’ Pour! The class was exactly what I needed to destress from the evening and enjoy some me time.
Thursday was a bit of a letdown self care wise if I’m being honest. It was one of those crazy days where I was constantly in a “go go go” situation from the moment I woke up to the moment I went to bed. I didn’t really set aside time for an activity that allowed me to rest my mind and focus on myself. These days happen and it’s okay! Tomorrow’s another chance to prioritize myself without being overwhelmed.
Friday was movie night - we spent the evening rewatching Speed - it had been a hot minute since we saw it and it was quite enjoyable and a great time unplugging from social media and the rest of the world.
Saturday was a really good self care day for me! I will say I overworked myself from the morning to mid afternoon, which pushed me to make sure I spent intentional time for my mind, body and soul. Self care activities included video chatting with some of my gal pals, baking an eggless pound cake - see how I made it, here! Lastly, I ended the night continuing my Disney Movie Marathon from last week by watching Beauty and the Beast
Sunday self care included taking 15 minutes of quiet time to myself with a sheet mask and eye gels. I shared some of my favorite masks and eye gels in my week one check in here! In the evening I’ll be continuing my Harry Potter Marathon with Prisoner of Azkaban.
That's this week's self care check in! What are some self care activities you've done recently? Let me know in the comments!
