Eat Your Way Through Chicago with Me
Ate my way through Chicago pre-pandemic – sharing a recap in this post. Sharing all the food places we checked out and other activities we did during our weekend getaway. So much good food, lots of relaxation, and my first ever escape room!

This was my first time visiting the windy city and we stayed at the Radisson Blue Aqua and I’d definitely stay there again, it was a beautiful hotel and the staff was very friendly.

Day 1 in Chicago
Our first meal was lunch at Minghim Cuisine where we had Dim Sum not only once, but twice! Yup, it was that good that we went there twice during the weekend. It was also extremely close to where we were staying so it made a great first meal without lengthy travel.
We had everything from Siu Mai, Shrimp Dumplings, Egg Yolk Buns, and Potstickers. I’m sure I’m missing an item or two. Everything was SO delicious.

We spent the rest of the day at the hotel since we were pretty exhausted from travel and wanted to rest up before the next two busy days. We had room service for dinner – nachos, fries, chicken wings, and couldn’t skip dessert!
Day 2 in Chicago
We started the day with breakfast at Wildberry Pancakes and Cafe – this was also located very close to the Radisson Blue Aqua. I had their Espanola Omelette – it was so flavorful and delish! Full of Jalapeños, avocado, onions, cilantro, mushrooms, chorizo sausage, & Chihuahua cheese on a bed of tortillas.

After breakfast we checked out the Art Institute and Millenium Park and then made our way to Hero’s Coffee. While looking for things to do in Chicago, we came across Hero’s Coffee at Pickwick Lane. Several people said that this location gives a Harry Potter/Diagon Alley Vibes.
Later in the afternoon, we eventually ventured to The Allis where we escaped from the cold and drank tea. The ambiance was great, super relaxing and it was beautiful aesthetically as well.

On our way to dinner, we stopped by BomboBar and bought a few hole-less donuts to inject with different fillings for later that night.

We couldn’t go to Chicago and not get deep dish pizza at least once! We went to Lou Malnati’s and got their Calamari and a Veggie Deep Dish Pizza. So so delish!

We had a few other places planned out for Day 2 (and Day 3) but for one reason or another, we weren’t able to make those scenic adventures happen. It’s all good though because I was able to spend a ton of quality time with friends + eat a lot of good food.
Day 3 in Chicago
This is when we had to replan most of our day which is now something we laugh about since it was 3 consecutive places at once. We had lots of good food so that’s great! We had breakfast at Yolk and I had the Hey Ricky! Omelette. It had chorizo, jalapeños, pepper jack, and cheddar cheese.

We spent some time checking out a few shops and then hit up Argo Tea where I remember regretting being too lazy to go back into the line to buy some tea to take back home LOL.

Later that day we went to 3 Arts Clubs Cafe and enjoyed the relaxing ambiance with wine and a fruit and cheese board.

Last but not least, we went to Xoco where we enjoyed delicious contemporary versions of Mexican Street Food. Margaritas, guacamole, Tlayuda, Pozole, and Churros.

Day 4 in Chicago
Our last day in Chicago was pretty simple, food, escape room, and flights home We started off by grabbing donuts and coffee at Do Rite Donuts – we bought an assortment of different flavors and they were all so delicious!
After the donuts, we headed to Room X Escape Room. I can’t find their website for some reason but will update this post if I come across it again. This was my first escape room and I can say it definitely won’t be my last!
Last thing we did before heading to the airport was to visit Minghim Cuisine again for Dim Sum.

I can’t wait to visit Chicago again and experience more delish food and visit all the places we were unable to during this trip.
